TRUSSVILLE — Despite the long, drawn out history of the greenways project along the Cahaba River on US 11, Trussville officials believe the project could get underway very soon.
The city council voted Tuesday night to approve their share of the project, which totaled more than $900,000.
City Hall officials said yesterday the city delivered the money to the state agency in charge of the bid process, and the bid would then be awarded to the contractor.
Trussville City Clerk Lynn Porter said the contractor the state will award the bid to is the same contractor who completed work around the veteran’s memorial in Civitan Park. She hopes the project will be completed quickly because of the familiarity the company has with the project.
The project will likely begin before December with completion expected by next summer, Porter said.
