TRUSSVILLE — The fourth annual Oktoberfest is set for Saturday, Oct. 11 at Holy Infant of Prague on U.S. Highway 11 in Trussville.
The free event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for parking.
The event features authentic German food and live music, along with other treats such as German cakes, strudels, funnel cakes, candies, cookies, snow cones, cotton candy, peanuts, pizza and nachos.
There are activities planned for the entire family from tots to seniors and everyone in between. Some of the offerings include hayrides to the pumpkin patch, a rock wall, bungee jump, paintball, obstacle course, pedestal joust, pumpkin painting, children’s games with prizes, football and ring toss, hole-in-one, cake wheel, miniature golf, and face-painting.
There are opportunities to win prizes, cakes and cash with games, the grab bag wheel, bingo, and a raffle that includes prizes of $1,500 cash, $750 cash, large screen TV and a Kindle.
Grandma’s back porch will be open with homemade jellies and jams, pickled vegetables and hand-made candies, cookies and other delicacies, including gluten-free and sugar-free selections.
The event is hosted by volunteers from Holy Infant of Prague, which is involved with contributing to the community with the Trussville Ecumenical Assistive Ministry, feeding the homeless, prison ministry, hosting Al-Anon, mission work, knitting prayer shawls for the sick, St. Vincent de Paul and other causes.
