CLAY — Clay-Chalkville remains No. 2 in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 6A rankings.
Spanish Fort (4-0) garnered 28 of the 31 first-place votes to remain No. 1. Clay-Chalkville had two first-place votes, and No. 3 Shades Valley earned one. The rest of the top 10, in order, are Opelika, Carver-Montgomery, Florence, Daphne, Saraland, Blount and Muscle Shoals.
Pinson Valley didn’t garner any votes for top 10 consideration in Class 6A.
In Class 7A, Bob Jones is again at the top of the list with 26 of the 31 first-place votes. Hoover is No. 2 with four first-place votes. Fairhope, ranked No. 3, earned one first-place vote. The rest of the top 10, in order, are Central-Phenix City, Gadsden City, Prattville, Foley, Spain Park, Vestavia Hills and Tuscaloosa County.
Four of the top 10 teams in Class 7A — No. 2 Hoover, No. 8 Spain Park, No. 9 Vestavia Hills and No. 10 Tuscaloosa County — are all in Class 7A, Region 3, the same region as Hewitt-Trussville, which didn’t garner any votes for top 10 consideration in Class 7A this week.
