TRUSSVILLE — Trussville City Schools Superintendent Pattie Neill said Monday she believes Alabama State Department of Education Superintendent Tommy Bice’s PLAN 2020 is “an outstanding plan.”
PLAN 2020 is the strategic plan for education in Alabama, with the goal of preparing all students to be successful in college and/or career upon graduation from high school.
Neill, a couple Trussville City Schools principals and Trussville City Board of Education member Sid McNeal heard Bice speak Sept. 4 at G.W. Carver High School in Birmingham.
McNeal said he found Bice’s presentation “very interesting.” He called him an “outstanding” speaker.
“I think he has a lot of courage,” McNeal said. “He certainly speaks his mind.”
Interim Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Beth Bruno also said Bice was “courageous.”
Hewitt-Trussville High School Principal Tim Salem said Bice’s key points were innovation, student engagement and positive reinforcement.
“He’s a teacher,” Salem said. “It was really nice to sit back and listen.”
