TRUSSVILLE — It’s a chance to look back before moving forward.
Trussville City Schools has announced that it will host “The Final Tour” of the historic building on Parkway Drive on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m.
Trussville City Schools is calling all alumni of the old high school to come for a tour of the first floor before remodeling begins.

Michael Brady Inc. is the architect for both new community elementary schools, one in Magnolia Place and the other a remodeled historic building on Parkway Drive in the Cahaba Project.
Bids for the construction and renovation of the two new schools will be ready in November, according to Trussville City Schools Superintendent Pattie Neill. Neill said a new timeline shows bid documents will go to contractors in November and be opened 30 days later. The original plan was for bid documents to go to contractors in January 2015.
The target date for opening the elementary schools is the fall of 2016.
The historic school building was constructed in the 1930s as part of United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal program, and originally housed the 10th through 12th grades. It remained the high school until 1984, when high school students began attending a new school built on Trussville-Clay Road, now Hewitt-Trussville Middle School. The former high school on Parkway Drive was used as Hewitt-Trussville Middle School from 1984 through 2008.
