TRUSSVILLE — Sponsorship applications for the fifth annual Cahaba River Fry-Down are due Friday, Aug. 29.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28 from noon to 4 p.m. along the banks of the Cahaba River at Trussville Springs.
The Fry-Down is like a barbecue or chili cook-off, but with catfish and hushpuppies. Local teams of chefs will prepare catfish and fixings for a panel of celebrity judges. To compete teams must sign up by Sept. 19. Fest-goers can sample their efforts and learn about the diversity of the Cahaba River and its role as a source of drinking water and recreation for Alabama.
A donation of $20 gets admission to the event, and children 12 and under get in free.
