CLAY — The Clay City Council has its newest member.
Bo Johnson was nominated to replace the council seat vacated by former Councilman Mark Halstead at this week’s meeting. Halstead left the city council due to a relocation.
Johnson was chosen out of seven candidates, and took over annexations and new business.
His term began Aug. 5 and will last until Nov. 5, 2016.
“He’ll do an excellent job,” Mayor Charles Webster said.
Johnson, the son of Clay City Councilwoman Becky Johnson, is the senior pastor at Refuge Church, which meets at Regal Cinemas in Trussville. He and his wife, Khristie, founded Refuge, which was originally Living Word Church.
Johnson is a 1986 graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School and has a degree in theology from Life Christian University in Tampa, Fla.
