TRUSSVILLE — Steven Blalock of Blalock Building Company said the Husky Parkway bridge and extension to Trussville-Clay Road is expected to open Sept. 15, barring any weather delays.
The road will connect Trussville-Clay Road to Deerfoot Parkway. Traffic signals located at the intersection of Trussville-Clay Road and Husky Parkway have been installed and began flashing Monday morning.
Trussville City Schools officials announced a safety and traffic plan in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, the opening of Husky Parkway will create several traffic pattern changes that involve Hewitt-Trussville High School and the Deerfoot Parkway intersection. The speed limits, signage, flow patterns and striping plans are currently being completed and submitted for approval. Once final, the city and school system will begin publicizing the new traffic patterns to ensure the safety of all drivers, especially the student drivers on Husky Parkway.
Administrators from Hewitt-Trussville High School will meet with student drivers to explain the changes and how the changes to school entrances and exits will apply to them. Parents will also receive the new information so they will have time to study the plan in order to be ready for the opening of the Husky Parkway extension, according to the statement.
