TRUSSVILLE — The amount of players and their sizes have changed, but the place has remained the same.
This time next year, the place will be different.
The Hewitt-Trussville varsity football team had its team photo taken Monday at Jack Wood Stadium, a staple in Trussville’s Cahaba Project. The 2014 team will be the last to have its preseason team photo snapped there.

The first was in 1948, according to the Trussville Historical Society. That team was the first to play in the city’s stadium, which became known as Jack Wood Stadium in the late 1990s.
There were 45 players on the 1948 team. Today, there are close to 100.
Hewitt-Trussville is set to begin playing in the new Hewitt-Trussville Stadium this fall. The plan is to open it for the Oct. 3 homecoming game against Oak Mountain.
“A lot of memories have been made since that Fall of 1948 and there are a lot of memories to look forward to at the new stadium,” a post on the society’s Facebook page states. “History continues to be made every year!”
