TRUSSVILLE — Bids for the construction and renovation of two new community elementary schools will be ready in November, according to Trussville City Schools Superintendent Pattie Neill.
Neill said a new timeline shows bid documents will go to contractors in November and be opened 30 days later. The original plan was for bid documents to go to contractors in January 2015.

The target date for opening the elementary schools — one in the former high school and middle school on Parkway Drive, and the other in the Magnolia Place area — is the fall of 2016.
In other news, Jefferson County Treasurer Mike Miles and Jefferson County Commissioner Joe Knight presented the school board with a check for $70,879.24, part of the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation Office Fund.

The school board approved Hewitt-Trussville Middle School eighth grade science teacher Corey Hall to be an assistant principal at Hewitt-Trussville High School. He’ll work with freshmen.
“I’m very excited,” Hall said.
The Trussville City Schools’ website will soon have a new look. The new look will be clearer and cleaner. It will also support a mobile version.
The board also held its first public budget hearing last week for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. Another will be held at the Aug. 18 meeting. The budget will be voted on at the September board meeting.
