TRUSSVILLE — The three suspects arrested in Trussville on Thursday have been charged.
Daroues Montrail Hayes, 20, of Birmingham is charged with second-degree receiving stolen property. His bond was set at $15,000.
Kelvin Dewayne Walker, 23, of Birmingham is charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, second-degree promoting prison contraband and possession of burglary tools. His bonds total $45,000.
Stephfon Dewayne Johnson, 20, of Center Point is charged with third-degree receiving stolen property. His bond was set at $1,000.
Lt. Jeff Bridges said a resident of the Calumet subdivision in Trussville called police Thursday at about 11 a.m. after a black male rang her doorbell then asked to cut her grass. Two other men were waiting in a white four-door Chrysler, Bridges said. The woman called police when the men left, and officers stopped the car on Roper Road, Bridges said.
Bridges said the driver was in possession of a gun reported stolen in a burglary that occurred on Brentwood Avenue last Friday. The passenger was allegedly in possession of burglar tools, Bridges said. There was also a pistol reported stolen out of Argo in the back seat, Bridges said.
When the suspects were taken to Trussville City Jail, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had some marijuana in his shoe, Bridges said.
