CLAY — Clay-Chalkville rising senior defensive end Kendell Jones is heading to Beaverton, Ore., for an elite football camp.
Jones earned an invite to The Opening, scheduled for July 7-10, after performing well at the Nike Football Training Camp at Spain Park High School in March.
Jones is looking forward to The Opening.
“I’m going to try my hardest to get MVP of the camp,” Jones said.
Jones last month verbally committed to play college football at Mississippi State. His original plan was to make his commitment known at The Opening.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Jones has other scholarship offers from Arkansas State, Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina State, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Troy and Western Kentucky.
Jones last season totaled 18.5 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks for Clay-Chalkville.
