CLAY — The city of Clay will accept resumes for an open city council seat through June 30.
Mark Halstead’s last day on the Clay City Council will be June 30, he announced earlier this month. He’s leaving the city council due to a relocation.
“I just want to say I appreciate the opportunity,” Halstead said earlier this month. “My wife and I are relocating outside of Jefferson County to be with our grandchildren and children.”
The city council will have until Sept. 2 to appoint someone to fulfill the remainder of Halstead’s term.
Halstead has been a member of the current Clay City Council since November 2012. He also served on the city council from 2004 to 2008. He was also on the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustments from 2000 to 2002 and the Planning and Zoning Commission since 2002.
A post on the city of Clay’s Facebook page asks anyone interested in “taking an active role in leading your city” to submit a resume to Clay City Hall. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For more information, call Clay City Hall at 205-680-1223.
