CLAY — What you probably already surmised is now official.
Clay-Chalkville head football coach Jerry Hood confirmed today that its season opener Aug. 23 against Niceville (Fla.) at Hoover High School’s Buccaneer Stadium will be televised by ESPNU at 3 p.m.
Hoover will host Miami (Fla.) Central at 11 a.m. on ESPNU.
Hood said tickets are $12 and will be on sale later this summer.
“All Clay-Chalkville fans can benefit the Cougars by purchasing tickets at Clay-Chalkville,” Hood said.
The game will be Clay-Chalkville’s first national appearance in program history. Clay-Chalkville was originally slated to face off with Hoover on Thursday, Aug. 21 to open the season.
Niceville finished as the Class 7A runner-up in Florida last season.
“We’re going to line up, see what we’ve got right there on the national stage,” Hood said in April.
