MONTGOMERY — Paine Intermediate School’s Benjamin Kennedy won the Novice K-5 division of the Montgomery Scholastic Chess Tournament in Montgomery on May 3.
Thirty-four children participated in the tournament.

Kennedy was a part of a four-member team that won the Alabaster Scholastic Chess Tournament in March.
