FAIRFIELD — A second man has been charged in the April 19 death of a Pinson woman.
Nathaniel Fortune, 31, of Birmingham was charged with abuse of a corpse in the death of 22-year-old Megan Elizabeth Monroe, whose body was discovered April 19 burned behind an empty house in Fairfield. It’s believed Monroe died somewhere else and was dumped behind the house. A cause of death has not been ruled.
Earlier this week, 27-year-old Kenneth Childers was charged with abuse of a corpse.
Fortune was arrested Tuesday when police conducted a search warrant at a home in West End. He was in the Jefferson County Jail on Wednesday.
Monroe was a former Hewitt-Trussville High School student.
More charges in the case could follow.
