TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville High School Hospitality and Culinary Arts Academy is holding a honey-baked ham fundraiser to help send the culinary team to a national competition.
The deadline for ordering a ham is Wednesday, April 16. Hams will be available for pickup at Hewitt-Trussville High School on Friday, April 18.
A 3.5-pound boneless ham that serves up to eight people is $33. An eight-pound boneless ham is $62 and a 10-pound boneless ham is $76. A roast turkey breast that serves six to eight people is $25, as is a smoked turkey breast.
The culinary team, which consists of Deja Rae Stoddard, Kyle Walker, and Matt Phillips, won the ProStart Invitational at Culinard in Birmingham earlier this year. The head of the team is Chef Laura Rinsky.
The team will represent the state of Alabama against 47 other teams in the National ProStart Culinary Competition in Minneapolis, Minn., on May 5. This is the first time the state of Alabama will be represented in the national competition. A percentage of the proceeds from the honey-baked ham fundraiser will benefit the culinary team as it competes for the national title.
