TRUSSVILLE — A Hewitt-Trussville Middle School student finished first at his school and 14th overall at an archery tournament in Pell City on Feb. 18.
Joseph Stephens earned those finishes at the Alabama Archery Regional Competition, which featured middle and high school students. The top 10 finishers go to the national competition. Stephens finished just six points from the top 10. About 300 students participated in the competition.
Sixteen team members shoot in each flight. Participants had one round of five arrows to practice before shooting their scoring rounds. They shoot from 10 meters and 15 meters.
Amanda Hayes and Morgan Griffin coach the team.
