JEFFERSON COUNTY — The 2014 Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is next weekend.
The sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Feb. 21 and runs through midnight on Feb. 23.
The Trussville City Council last month voted to participate in the sales tax holiday, choosing to relinquish the city’s municipal sales and use tax for storm-related purchases. The Clay City Council voted in October to participate in the sales tax holiday. Pinson will also participate.

Examples of items included in the sales tax holiday are batteries, weather radios, cell phone chargers, tarps, flashlights, first aid kits and plywood.
The sales tax holiday was first held in 2012.
