JEFFERSON COUNTY — Today is National Signing Day, and seven area athletes are expected to sign national letters of intent today.
Here’s a breakdown by school.
Pinson Valley
Pinson Valley senior defensive lineman Calvin Burns will sign with Miles College at noon at the Pinson Valley High School field house. Burns notched 75 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four sacks as a senior.

Clay-Chalkville
Clay-Chalkville seniors defensive lineman Jalen Harvey and running back Sidney Battle are expected to sign letters of intent at 1:40 p.m. at the Clay-Chalkville High School auditorium. Harvey is signing with Syracuse. Battle is expected to choose between Delta State and Tuskegee.
Hewitt-Trussville
Four athletes will be signing at the Hewitt-Trussville High School cafeteria at 2:15 p.m. Defensive ends Austin Wysor and Joseph Roberts will be signing. Wysor will sign with Mercer and Roberts will sign with UAB. Veronica Lyle will sign with Alabama to run track and cross country. Alexandra Pidcock will sign with North Alabama for track and cross country.
