JEFFERSON COUNTY — The body of a woman was found in unincorporated Jefferson County just northwest of Pinson on Thursday.
Just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a body found in the 7400 block of Dewey Goodwin Road. A homeowner using a ladder at his residence saw the body lying in the woods nearby, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian. The homeowner called for paramedics and checked on the body, finding a female that was obviously deceased.
The body appears to be that of a white female believed to be late 50s to 60s, clothed only in a T-shirt, Christian said.
“It appears that she was deceased and at this location prior to the storm,” Christian said. “There is no sign of trauma and cause of death along with positive identification will have to be made by the medical examiner’s office.”
More information will be released as it becomes available.
