CLAY — The Clay-Chalkville Middle School wrestling team earlier this month captured the Jefferson County Championship at Center Point High School.
Clay-Chalkville had six first-place finishers, three runners-up and three third-place finishers.
Dylan LeSueur won first place in the 75-pound weight class and was named the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler. Jamie Lauderdale won the 95-pound division, Jacob Smith won the 103-pound weight class and won the best match award, Demarcus Burris placed first in the 145-pound weight class, Drennon Mayhew won the 155-pound class and Felix Lynch won the heavyweight division.
Second-place finishers included Jackson Jones (135), Corey Lee (155) and Kevin Dunn (165).
Third-place finishers included Gabe Hodge (85), Caleb Martin (125) and Anthony Talton (130).
The wrestling team is coached by second-year head coach Diangelo Perry.
