CENTER POINT — The Pinson Valley varsity boys basketball team allowed the most points it had all season against Hueytown on Wednesday.
Luckily for Pinson Valley, it put up the most points it had all season.
The Indians (15-8) defeated Hueytown 84-81 in a Jefferson County Boys Basketball Tournament game at Center Point.
Senior guard Zach Jackson scored 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds. Junior Donevan Waldrop scored 16 points and handed out seven assists, senior Austin McKinney scored 14 points and senior Kerry Griffith added 10 points. Pinson Valley shot 52 percent from the field, making 33 of 63 shots attempts.
The Pinson Valley girls lost to Class 6A No. 3 Shades Valley 46-16.
In the boys tournament today, Clay-Chalkville (18-7) faces Shades Valley at 6 p.m. at Center Point. Minor faces Center Point at 7:30 p.m. The winners will play each other for the championship Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Center Point.
In the girls tournament today, Clay-Chalkville hosts Gardendale at 5 p.m. Shades Valley faces McAdory at 6:30 p.m. The winners face each other at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Clay-Chalkville for the tournament championship.
