Two area football standouts will be a part of tonight’s BCS Championship Game at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
Junior wide receiver Dimitri Reese and junior fullback Patrick Young are both on the No. 2 Auburn football team.
Reese is a 2010 Clay-Chalkville High School graduate and wears No. 86 for the Tigers. Reese, a former walk-on, earned a scholarship in August. According to www.auburntigers.com, Reese in high school blocked a field goal and returned it 84 yards for a touchdown, and returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown, in the same game. In high school, Reese also lettered in basketball, was Student Government Association president, was a member of the National Honor Society and was a Fellowship of Christian Athletes youth leader.
Young is a 2011 Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate and wears No. 49 for the Tigers. In high school, Young was the team’s offensive captain and led Hewitt-Trussville in catches and receiving yards his senior year. Young was on the Student Council, and a member of the National Honor Society and National Math Honor Society.
Tonight’s game between Auburn (12-1) and No. 1 Florida State (13-0) kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
