PINSON — The Clay-Chalkville varsity basketball teams earned a sweep at Pinson Valley in the Indians’ opening games Tuesday night.
The Lady Cougars (2-0) beat the Lady Indians 73-55. Senior Bria Bethea went off for 32 points for Clay-Chalkville.
Junior point guard Kristian Hudson scored 18 and junior Brittany Wood chipped in with seven points.
The Clay-Chalkville varsity boys earned their first win of the season, outscoring Pinson Valley 12-6 in overtime to claim a 65-59 win.
Martin Reed scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Cougars (1-1). Sean Burrell also had a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Point guard Hasan Abdullah scored 14 points.
Clay-Chalkville led 24-22 at halftime and 38-36 after the third quarter.
