When the Alabama High School Athletic Association announces its new member school classifications for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years, Pinson Valley High School expects to remain in Class 5A, according to head football coach/athletics director Matt Glover.
The AHSAA Central Board of Control on Wednesday approved Jan. 22, 2014, as the date to announce the new classifications.
AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese said it was important for the AHSAA to have enough time to evaluate the information regarding school attendance numbers, which are expected from the Alabama State Department of Education in the next month.
Pinson Valley has been a Class 5A school since 2010. Since that year, the football team has posted a 27-16 record.
From 2006 to 2009, Pinson Valley was in Class 6A. In those years, the football team compiled an 11-30 record.
Pinson Valley from 2002 to 2005 was a Class 5A school, totaling a 26-18 record on the football field.
Pinson Valley was a Class 6A school in 2000 and 2001. In those two years, the football team posted a 9-12 record.
According to the Alabama High School Football Historical Society, enrollment at the school for 2012-13 was 705. In 2010-11, it was 713. The enrollment for 2008-09 was 732 and 735 for 2006-07.
