Since the legislative session wrapped up in May, I have enjoyed spending time with my family and look forward to these last few weeks that we have left of summer. Soon, school will be starting and weekends will be filled with football and family gatherings.
However, for me, this time also presents an opportunity for me to focus on the issues that are important to the people of District 15 and how to approach these issues in the upcoming legislative session.
The Legislature begins the 2014 session in January and will last through April. While it may seem like January is far away, it will be here before we know it. Since being elected as a state senator, I am most proud of the relationships I have formed with the people in my district. The town hall meetings and the Coffee & Conversation series have been excellent resources in developing these relationships throughout Jefferson and Shelby counties. More importantly, these events have given me the opportunity to find out about the issues that are most important to the people I represent.
This fall, I will be hosting more town hall meetings and Coffee & Conversations in Trussville and throughout District 15. However, until then, I encourage you to contact me personally to talk about any issue that is important to you and your family. My email address is sb@sladeblackwell.com.
