Erring on the side of caution, Pinson Elementary students were evacuated this morning after school officials received a bomb threat via voice mail. The incident is being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department

“The administration received a bomb threat on voice mail,” said Sgt. Jack Self of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. “We have taken every precaution to insure the safety of the students, faculty and staff including evacuation of the facility. A search of the school was conducted using a bomb detecting K9. Nothing was found. The school has been cleared and students are now being allowed to return to class. Detectives will conduct an investigation into the threat and see that those responsible are held accountable.”
Deputy Chief Randy Christian called the threat “bogus” and said have now returned to class.
